Pack 30 August 2021 Announcements

Hello Pack 30!

I hope that everyone is healthy and you all enjoyed the summer as best as you could. First of all congrats for managing the first couple of weeks of back-to-school. We can’t wait to resume Cub Scout activities in September, and we’ve finalized our pack calendar through December of 2021

Here are some key events to look forward to in the coming weeks.

  1. Cub Scout Field Day on August 28th: If you have registered for the event, we are looking forward to seeing you at Camp Herms tomorrow.
  2. Den Meetings in the 1st Week of September: Den leaders are planning for their first den meeting in the next couple of weeks prior to our first pack meeting. So expect communication from your respective Den leaders.
  3. Back-to-Pack Kick-Off on September 20th: Pack meetings will be held on the third-Monday of each month. Our first back-to-pack meeting will be held on September 20th at 6:30 PM. Please save the date and expect an invite soon with location details.

For new families looking to join the pack, please start with the Pack Enrollment Form online and we’ll work with you on the application and registration process. We are thrilled to have you join the pack!

As you may know, scouting is a parent-volunteers run youth program. We have open leadership roles in the pack, through which you can contribute and make a positive impact in the lives of our kids and the community. So, Akelas (parent/guardian adults) who are interested in helping, even in simple ways, please let us know.

I’m optimistic for an adventurous scouting year with lots of fun for the kids. With all of us working together, doing our best, I’m sure we can make it happen. Looking forward to kick-off the year with a bang!

Cheers
Raja Antony

2021 Advancement Ceremony at Live Oak Park

Pack 30 ended the scouting year with a ceremony for all our scouts who earned badges and promotions. We had the traditional ceremonies for Tiger advancement, Arrow of Light advancement and bridging to Scouts BSA . At Live Oak Park, the scouts cross a literal bridge when bridging, being welcomed by the leader of their future BSA troop on the other side.

Pack 30 November Announcements

Hello Pack 30!

I hope everyone had fun meeting the Berkeley Fire Department at the last Pack Meeting.  We’ll make sure to make up on the Advancement Ceremony that we missed.  We have only a couple things coming up in November:

Den Meetings week of November 4th – We have space reserved at Epworth Community Center for Den Meetings this coming week.  Look for a specific email from your Den Leader.  Your Den Leaders will be guiding your Cub Scout through their rank.  Attending the Den Meetings regularly is an effective way to ensure that your Cub Scout gets through their rank each year.

Pack Meeting November 18th at Epworth Community Center – We will have a grand Advancement Ceremony so have your Cub Scout work on their rank Achievements.  We’ll make sure to recognize everyone at this Pack Meeting and also have a fun game to play.  We’ll also be sharing information about the December Holiday Pot Luck which is a great time.  Be sure to come.

Pack 30 Holiday Pot Luck December 9th, 6:45 Opening Flags.  Herms Lodge (1100 James Place in El Cerrito)

Looking forward to seeing everyone!

Pack 30 August 2019 Announcements

Hello Pack 30!

I hope that everyone is enjoying the trailing days of Summer Vacation.  Cub Scout activities resume in September, and we’ve finalized the calendar through December of 2019.  It is attached to this email and on our Website.  We’ll provide a Spring Calendar towards the end of the year, we still need to finalize a few dates.

We have the upcoming events in August for both returning and new Cub Scouts.  If you are considering joining our Pack please come to the September Pack Meeting to check us out!

Tuesday, August 27th, 7 pm at Epworth Church is the first Planning Meeting to review the schedule of events and further planning for the scout year.  Den Leader and others with registered positions must attend to share information.  Akelas who are interested in helping to plan and organize the Pack can learn simple ways to participate.  Please come to help out, we all need to share information in this forum.

We still have many open positions, and much of the leadership will term out this year.  Please take advantage of the opportunity to work with those of us who have been doing this for several years.  A link to the google doc of positions and descriptions is here:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/17Q2uqvK8h3C86NeYsUWSWwKjc4-_pXWgt5lCHrtyFOs/edit?usp=sharing

You will see that we added a Games Coordinator position this year.  We need someone to plan and lead a 10-15 minute game for the Cub Scouts at about half of the Pack Meetings, and at the Camp Outs.  This is a great way to engage with the Scouts, and can be a lot of fun.  I will help out with this.

Sunday, September 8th Join Pack 30 along with Boy Scout Troops 19, 24, and 6 in the Scout Parade at the Solano Stroll.  We typically meet at the on Fresno Avenue between Solano and Marin Avenues 15 minutes before the parade begins at 10 am.  Final details to come.

And last but not least, the first Berkeley Cub Scouts Pack 30 Pack Meeting will be Monday, September 16th, 6:45 Opening Flag Ceremony at John Hinkel Amphitheatre (41 Somerset Place in North Berkeley).  We’ll get the year kicked off with a bang!

Enjoy the rest of the Summer Pack 30, and I hope to see everyone soon!
