September Announcements
Hello Pack 30 (and interested families):
We are busy preparing for another great year of Scouting. A couple announcements to prepare you for September events.
Pack Planning Committee meeting
Join us September 5th(7-8:30PM) at the Scout Hut and learn about the great plans that we have for the 2017-18 Scouting year. (Directions: North on Arlington Avenue, from the Circle, turn right onto Southampton Ave. Follow around to left, turn right onto San Diego Road. Park in the lay-bay at the top edge of park, on San Diego Road. The Scout Hut is just down the hill in the park).
Solano Stroll
On September 10th, you and your Akela join us in the Solano Stroll. We will gather at 9:15 AM on Fresno St. (near Solano Avenue, look for the Scouts and banner), wear your Class A uniform and stroll down to the BART tracks with Berkeley, Kensington, Albany and other Scout units. After the stroll, join us at the climbing wall (on Solano, East of the BART tracks) and help recruit more Scouts.
California Coastal Cleanup
September 16th is California Coastal Cleanup day. Join Pack 30 at the Berkeley Marina, clean up the coast and earn a patch. We are looking for a volunteer to coordinate this event. If you have a couple hours to spare, please contact me.
September Pack Meeting
Our September 18th Pack meeting is at School of the Madeline (Parish Hall) at 6:30PM and is located on Berryman at Henry Sts. This location is temporary, while Epworth renovations continue. Mike Whyte, our Membership Chair, will have applications available for new Scouts. Scouts are required to submit a completed medical form each year. If your car insurance has changed, please update this as well. Annual dues are $175 and address your check to Berkeley Pack 30. (October and November meetings will also be held at Madeline).
Den Meetings
A few dens are planning September meetings. If you have not received an email, please check with your den leader about your meeting schedule.
Volunteers needed
We are continuing to look for volunteers, including: Assistant Tiger Den Leader, Lead Quartermaster and a Room and facility coordinator and a Room and facility coordinator. Our remaining ‘Once and Done’ positions are Friends of Scouting and Coastal Cleanup Day coordinators. Please contact Anne Marx.
Wolfboro and Herms Properties Master Planning
Mount Diablo Silverado Council (MDSC) is completing a master plan for Camp Wolfeboro, Camp Herms and the Pleasant Hill Service Center. If you have experience in Master Planning (architects, engineers, etc.)and would like to help, please contact MDSC Scout Executive, John Fenoglio at john.fenoglio@scouting.org
Finally, Scouting has a 117 year US history, here’s a great story to read and share.
