November announcements

Hello Pack 30:

November’s announcements are being sent to you early this month. Many events occur before our next Pack meeting on November 20th.

Several events occur on November 11th. Plan for the appropriate Scouting activity(activities) for your Scout and family. Do not get overwhelmed by the Calendar.

At our November Pack meeting, we will cover the two points of the Scout Law, Helpful and Kind.

  • Scouting for Food
This Saturday, November 4th, you and your Scout place door hangers on your neighbor’s front door.  It’s recommended that you write a note on each door hanger letting your neighbors know who is collecting the donations.  Also, keep a list of addresses so you know where to go back to next weekend to pick up food donations.  On Saturday, November 11th, return to your neighbors doors and pick up the food that they leave.  Drop off donated food at School of the Madeline Parking lot between 9AM-1:00PM.

  • Veterans Day Flag Placement
On Saturday November 11th, Scouts will meet at Sunset View Cemetery (101 Colusa Ave., El Cerrito 94530) at 8:00AM rain or shine. This event is sponsored by the El Cerrito Lions. Scouts receive small flags, a cemetery map and instructions on how to place the flags. This event honors our Veterans service and sacrifice.  Wear your Class A uniform for this event.

  • Flag Retirement Ceremony
On Saturday November 11, Scouts will meet at Fernandez Park (595 Tennent Ave, Pinole, CA 94564) for a Flag Retirement Ceremony. United States flags are retired when they become worn, torn, faded or badly soiled.  It begins at 11am and Class A uniforms are requested for this event. Drew and I participated in this event last year.

  • Trail Trekkers Wildcat Peak Hike
On Saturday, November 11th at 11:00AM, meet us at the Tilden Park Nature area at the Environmental Education Center (EEC).  We will hike the Trail Trekkers Wildcat Peak hike.  This is a moderate 2.5 hike.  Bring a lunch and enjoy this wonderful hike in our own backyard.  An Evite will be sent out later this week.  Scouts can earn the Trail Trekkers patch and Wildcat Peak rocker.   Class B uniforms are suggested for the hike.

  • November Den and Pack Meetings
Please check with your Den Leader about your November Den meeting.  Our next Pack meeting is at Church of the Magdelan/Parish Hall  November 20, 6:30PM.

Email, text, or call for further information.

Yours In Scouting,

Doug Lindsey
